Toni Kroos says Real Madrid have set their sights on winning both the Champions League and Primera Division this term.

The World Cup winner is desperate to win silverware with the Santiago Bernabeu side this term and feels the Bundesliga is more physical than La Liga

The reigning European champions currently sit second in La Liga, trailing leaders Barcelona by one point, while they have one foot in the quarter-finals of the Champions League after their 2-0 first-leg win over Schalke in the round of 16.

Kroos is hopeful they can go all the way in both competitions this campaign and is determined to win as much silverware as possible during his stay at the Santiago Bernabeu.

“At a club like Real Madrid the goal is always to win everything and that is the short-term aim this season,” the Germany international told the Bwin website.

“In the long term, for the length of time I’m here and until my contract expires, I’ll be looking to win titles with this club and to also play an important role.”

The midfielder then went on to discuss the difference between the Bundesliga and La Liga and made it clear that the German top flight is much more physical than its Spanish counterpart.

“The Spanish and German leagues are of a very high standard. Along with the Premier League, they are probably the best.

“There is a bigger focus here on the footballing aspect of things. In England and Germany perhaps there is more of a focus on the physical side of the game, in breaking down the opposition’s play, especially against the lower placed sides.

“But the level is extremely high both here and in Germany.”
